Description: Belmont Lake State Park is located in West Babylon in Suffolk County NY and encompasses 463 acres worth of property. This location was established in 1926 which was owned by August Belmont (creator of Belmont Stakes) and formerly a thoroughbred horse farm. Robert Moses selected this park as the regional headquarters for all Long Island State Parks in the year of 1935. The park is open year round from 8am – 9pm 7 days a week. The park offers great space for families for picnicking and barbecues, while including a perfect loop trail circling the lake. The Belmont Loop Trail is mostly paved which makes this location ideal for running/bike riding. The entrance is also conveniently located directly off of Exit 38 of Southern State Parkway. Within the park there are playing fields, play grounds, and basketball courts for family and friends to enjoy. If you would like to get some fresh air and get some relaxing exercise, this is the place to go!
